Am I required to attend court?
- No, you're not required to attend if you have been issued a "PENALTY ASSESSMENT" citation. If there is a fine amount listed on your citation, you may pay the fine and your attendance in court is not required.
- Yes, you are required to attend court if you have been issues a "SUMMONS" citation. In this case, no fine amount will be indicated on the citation and your attendance in court is required. @(Model.BulletStyle == CivicPlus.Entities.Modules.Layout.Enums.BulletStyle.Decimal ? "ol" : "ul")>
- Kersey Municipal Court offers the original plea deal as stated on your citation, payment the citation in full prior within 20 (twenty) days, shall receive a reduction by one half from the originally cited violation.
- If you are requesting to make a plea for further reduction of points through Traffic School or Useful Public Service, you must appear in court on your arraignment date to petition your plea with the Town Prosecutor and the Judge. - In order to receive an OJW Clearance Letter the same day payment is made, you will need to make a payment in full with cash or money order at Kersey Town Hall 446 1st Street, Kersey, CO.
- If payment is made with a credit card, a 3 business day processing period is required to ensure the clearance of payment. The OJW Clearance Letter will be available on the first business day following the 3 day processing period.
- Upon issuing the Clearance Letter, Kersey Municipal Court will send a copy of the Clearance to the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles stating the defendant has successfully met the requirements of clearance with Kersey Municipal Court.
- Kersey Municipal Court will only collect fees due to the Court on outstanding balances of fines, surcharge, court cost, and a OJW fee. There may be other fees imposed by the DMV for license reinstatement and holds in other Jurisdictions besides the Town of Kersey. What if I cannot make my court date?
- Kersey Municipal Court will grant a one-time courtesy continuance to the next available court date.
- Please send your request for continuance to court@kerseygov.com. What if I need a payment plan?
- If you are seeking a payment arrangement or payment plan, you must appear in court on your arraignment date the enter the request for a payment arrangement with the Judge.
